The History of Customusic
In the vibrant history of Customusic, the roots trace back to the development of a background music library by Canteen Corporation at the AMI Jukebox Company in Grand Rapids, MI. The pivotal moment arrived when Ken Wieringa, a dedicated employee of Canteen during the 1960s, played a vital role in the Sound Division for 18 years. In 1979, Canteen entrusted the Sound Division to Ken, leading to the birth of Customusic Service Co., with the approval and support of both Canteen and Rowe (AMI).
What began as a home-based venture in the residence of Ken and Mary Wieringa evolved over time. Initially situated in the rear of the building, which now houses Televideo at 6570 S. Division, Customusic later found its home at the current location at 6540 S. Division after six years of growth and service excellence.
Customusic Service Co. proudly remains under the ownership of the Wieringa family, with Tim and Martha Wieringa at the helm offering an expanding sales, service and repair for the following categories:
- Drive-Thru Communication Systems
- Music & Sound
- Video & Satellite TV
- Phone & Messaging
